ESCA Division 7, Match 1: Dunfermline and Carnegie 3 Vs Peebles CCC, Saturday 25th April 2026.
Last Saturday Peebles began ESCA division 7 aiming to build on a very successful previous season with promotion and cup finals. April sunshine saw County play at “The Cairns” in Fife against Dunfermline and Carnegie III.
Skipper Pete Caddick won the toss and County went out to bat first with Kevin Bunten (7) , Caddick (7) and Kris Easter (5) all falling early leaving Peebles on 34-3 by drinks. Mehul Prajapati (5) perished quickly and Finlay Burns (8) played very well steadying the ship before the “Rev” (2), Niall Burns (0) and debutant Chris Dixon (0) saw wickets tumble. Wilson took four quick wickets for Dunfermline as Lawrence Dritsas (0) and Julian Pace (0) also perished leaving Nick Jenkins (0*) as County finished on 51 after 23 overs.
A delightful tea and cricket banter was enjoyed before County gathered round to welcome Chris Dixon with his cap presentation. Wickets would mean points as Prajapati (1-21) and Finlay Burns (0-27) looked to strike. Niall Burns (1-0) did strike before Dunfermline got over the line winning by 8 wickets.
Thank you to Dunfermline and Carnegie for hosting the first game of the season in a sporting fashion. Peebles hit the road home over the Bridge and then “over the hills tae Peebles” ready to prepare for Saturday’s home game vs Carlton. Peebles County Cricket Club play and train (Wednesdays at 6pm) at Whitestone Park with juniors, ages 5 – 15, on Thursdays at 430 pm and Ladies training evenings also with a full ESCA Saturday fixture list, together with Sunday friendlies and midweek T20.
